Girls Weekend
Robert had left for St. George about noon on Friday, so when school got out, I went and picked up the girls, and we went to their last day of the book fair at their school where they each were able to get 2 books. They had a Buy One Get One Free deal. We spent enough money to even get a free mini-poster too. The girls were so excited.
Then I decided to just go shopping with all the girls... what was I thinking? For the most part it was good, but the girls were giggling, laughing, singing, dancing, posing, and hogging the mirrors in the dressing room. We all went into the same dressing room. I had the big stroller for both little girls, so I got the handicap dressing room. I kept having to "Shhhushh" the girls but they had such a good time. They were loving to try on clothes in the dressing room. Amber kept unbuckling the stroller so I would occasionally see her run through the clothes racks, I would grab her and put her back in, buckle her in, and not much time later she would unbuckle and be chasing one of the twins around. I guess we need to practice going to the mall more often. Of course in the middle of our trying on clothes, the girls say, "We have to go potty" and of course the bathroom is on the next level up... so we have to leave everything go up, come back down and continue on with our fitting process.
We went to Sears since I had a $44 balance left on a gift card for Sears and a 15% off coupon, but then later when we went to Walmart to buy some plain t-shirts to go under some dresses they got, I was feeling a little buyer remorse for the higher prices at Sears compared to Walmart. I am hoping these will last longer and hold up better than Walmart clothes. That is what I keep telling myself so I don't feel so bad about it. I do typically think you get what you pay for, although there are exceptions to the rule. Emily is kind of at a point where she isn't growing much, and who am I kidding, I am only buying clothes that will go through 4 more girls, so it's worth it right? :)
Although I do have to admit I will often grab a t-shirt at Walmart while I am there doing other shopping and then as soon as I wash the shirt it shrinks in the length and then it is too short for me to wear comfortably without a longer shirt under it. That helped me justify the Sears trip and not feeling too bad about the money spent there.
Friday night for dinner, we went to KFC since we had coupons for FREE Grilled Chicken meals but found out there was some problem with the coupons or someone over used them or something and now they are no good. So my FREE dinner that I thought we were gonna have turned out to be more like $27 instead. Another bummer I felt. (KFC has a form you can fill out and send in your coupons and they will mail you new ones that are also good for a free soda along with the 2 piece chicken and 2 sides. It will be awhile I am sure before we get those back.)
Then I took the girls up Israel Canyon where Robert likes to run. He told me I should go walking up there, which I did and it is steep at times and I regretting it the whole way up there mostly thinking how unstable the ground was with all the ruts and the uneven rocks sticking out. When I was walking up there I saw a rabbit's hind leg along with it's tail, remenants of some other animals meal. The girls love things like that. I took them up to see it, and not to mention the view is incredible. As we were driving up we also saw off to the side a skeleton of some sort of animal, like a large dog or small deer. The girls really loved that too. That was pretty much the end of our Friday.
Saturday I kept thinking about taking the girls to the zoo, they had a "Macy's Mom and Me at the Zoo" where you go to Macy's buy their shirts for $7 and get into the zoo for free. This is their 3rd annual zoo day, so they would work for next year too. They had extra special things for the kids to do that were free if you were wearing one of the shirts. I kept thinking it would be fun and then thought it would be crowded.
I finally decided against it and we just hung out in the DIRT in our yard digging for the most part of the morning while Samantha slept. We had our First "Sale" of the girls'. Emily made up a new kind of ice cream. She took vanilla ice cream, put in some mandarin oranges, crushed up some ice cream cones and mixed it all up. They sold those out on our side walk. They sold 5 of them. Silly girls. They LOVE sales. I wish I would have gotten a picture of their first sale. Emily had the cooler out there and all the things in the cooler. She is so funny about things like that. She wants everything to be just perfect and in order, and of course HER way. (which caused a bit of fighting) She called her new ice cream, Orange Delight. I did have some of it and it wasn't too bad. I ate it with much resistance since they will often make me "drinks" with questionable ingredients that don't work so good together. This was kind of yummy, but I am all about texture so the crunchy cones in the ice cream was a delightful crunch in my ice cream. For only a quarter she will make you a cup of it too. (Oh, wait though, the ice cream got too soft and flopped out of the ice cream carton and onto the floor when it was getting put back into the freezer.) We may have to buy more ice cream.
After Samantha woke up from her nap, we went to get shoes and shirts to go under some of the dresses the girls got that didn't have sleeves. We did good in the shirt department but the shoes, didn't work out so well. Emily did get some that will end the year for her, but we had no great luck. Lindsey and Lauren did get some flip flop type shoes but not what I wanted them to get. They will work for them okay, just wasn't what I was thinking as "easy" slip on summer shoes.
The girls wanted to eat out again, but I told them I just spent a lot of money and couldn't spend anymore on eating out right not. We got home and had some dinner, which was only one that would be appreciated by kids. We had clam chowder soup with mini tacos and applesauce. Yummy huh! Rob and his parents got back shortly after our dinner was ready. To no suprise they ended up getting something else to eat and picked up some pizza. That was the end to the Girls' weekend.
I really don't mind Robert gone like that, I would if it was OFTEN but I don't mind the less pressure of dinner and those kind of things. The girls and I get along well. Amber even slept the whole night in my bed, which I wouldn't recommend or probably do again. I had to shoo the cat down several times as he would jump up on the bed and lay down purring next to Amber's face. I was afraid he would wake up Amber in the middle of the night.
I don't think we will have another Girl's weekend for awhile, but that is okay. It was nice while we had it. Robert's mom kept saying how sorry she was that we stayed home while Robert went with his family, but I much more enjoyed staying here with the girls then stuck in a small motel room with lack of good sleeping arrangements. I had no problems with it at all. She kept telling me how bad she felt for me.... I kept thinking, it isn't a big deal. I missed Robert but me and the girls have fun! I wouldn't want to do it for LONG periods but it is okay. It was better than the 5 days Robert was gone when I was 36 weeks pregnant with Samantha and having the other 4 girls to take care of. I ended up having Samantha the next morning after Rob got home. Now that was timing!!
Until next Girls' weekend... or probably more likely a Girls' night when Robert goes to some sporting event.
Lindsey's Retainer
When it was time to go get the retainer, Lindsey was sick throwing up so I had to call and cancel our appointment. When we went back in at the beginning of the week, the retainer was really snug. Then Lindsey lost her retainer for a few days then when we found it, it wasn't fitting anymore. We went back in to see if we could get another one. So the Ortho said he would make another one, since he remembered it was really snug before.
We get another one, this time it is a striped one. We have it for a few weeks, go to Washington with it... not a problem. Then one night we go to find it and Lindsey doesn't know where it is. We look all over, we look in the bathrooms, on the counters in the kitchen, in her bedroom all over the place, I emptied her drawers and shook out every piece of clothing in case it had fallen into any of her constant open drawers, looked around her bed... Robert had already looked in her room with no luck either. It was no where to be found.
I decided I needed to probably call and get a new one, afraid that all her work would go back to the way it was and we would have to do the whole process over again with the little "paper clip" looking device in her mouth to correct her teeth alignment.
That night Robert is doing dishes, cleans the sick out, runs the disposal... I hear this horrible grinding noise, I tell Robert, "sounds like there is a fork or a spoon in there." He turns the disposal back off, reaches in there, "Nope, it is Lindsey's retainer!" It didn't handle that so well.
Back to the orthodontist again, to get yet ANOTHER retainer. This time he tells me there will be a $75 fee for the retainer. Yes, I figured we would be buying this one... I almost ask can I get a discount if we do 2 at this time just in case. Lindsey this time gets a green sparkle retainer. Although she had a really wiggly tooth that made her retainer not fit right, so she had to pull her tooth out. (which came out on Sat. night) I hope this is the last one for her until the doctor decides she needs a new one that he will pay for.
After many direct discussions with Lindsey she is doing better now at putting her retainer in the right place and keeping it safe. She no longer puts it on her plate at breakfast time.

My Mother's Day
Here you can see the spread of gifts I got. The book marks at the bottom the kids made at church. The little pink card with the flower on the outside is a card Amber made in nursery for me. Then starting from left to right would be:
Lindsey gift that was rolled up like a scroll that then made a little vase for the 3 paper flowers she made. The little poem is a poem she filled in the blank about me, the things I like and what not. It reads...
My Super Mom
My mom has brown eyes and is only 25 years old,
My mom's favorite color is yellow and orange,
My mom's favorite food is M&M's,
My mom loves me best when I give her kisses.
My mom has a pretty smile. I like to make her smile by being funny.
My mom looks prettiest when she was married.
My mom can do many things! I think she's best at scaring me.
I love my mom because she helps me get in the pool.
My mom is smart! She even knows that I love her.
I love my mom because she reads me a book every night.
I love my mom because she taught me how to read books.
While I am at school, my mom goes to the store.
My favorite thing about my mom is because she reads me books.
I love my mom when she makes me laugh every time she scares me.
If I could give my mom something special, it would be a life time supply of M&M's.
Next over from Lindsey's stuff is Lauren's gift. The picture she drew was the wrapping paper for her cook book and the book about My mom and Me. There is a little flower she painted that is a magnet as well. Their class made a cook book. The kids wrote down their own recipe for something they make, or their family makes and they they were to bring in a recipe from home. Each child had their own page, and at the top of the page was the kids' recipe. Lots of them used scoops for measuring and some used cups to measure things for their recipes. It was pretty cute. At the bottom of the page was the recipe brought from home. The kid got to draw and decorate their page. Then they were copied and then bound into a book. It was pretty cute. Lauren's My Mom and Me books reads...
This is how my mom and I are alike,
We love flowers,
We love cats and dogs,
We love to bake brownie tarts,
We love books.
This is how my mom and me are not alike,
I love horses, my mom does not.
My mom loves donkeys, I do not.
I love TV, my mom does not.
But we love each other.
And of course her book is fully illustrated and colored too. I think I might have made her feel bad because I said, I love horses too! She kinda made a funny laugh, so I am not sure if for some reason she didn't know that of if she couldn't think of anything or what. Who knows with first graders!
Then onto Emily's.... She made a big card with the hedge hogs on it. It has on the inside a little poem that says,
My mom is as sweet as sugar,
My mom is a beautiful as a rose,
I love my mom because she helps me with everything.
Then on the other side of the page was a vase with some flowers in it. The flowers where coupons for things like BREAKFAST IN BED and then 2 for ANYTHING YOU WANT ME TO DO.
I was noticing that the kids must have been able to pick their colors on some things, since I got Yellow and Orange for things... which are my favorite colors and my kids know that!
I was a little fearful this year of breakfast in bed. It is often a common thing the girls have done for me for my birthday or for mother's day. The girls often make a "drink" for me. They are very creative with it... usually it has cinnamon and lemon juice and some other things the girls have found in the fridge or cupboards... I drink it as they wait patiently to see how good I like it... Mostly they are very UNIQUE flavors. This year, I wasn't too disappointed when I didn't get breakfast in bed or a special drink made by my girls. I am sure the drinks will get better as they get older.
That was my mother's day for the most part... at least the highlights of it. I hope all you mothers out there had a wonderful mothers day as well!

Family Fun Night w/Jason Hewlett
FREE comedy show for families with Jason Hewlett, Las Vegas entertainer; dinner available for purchase or bring your own picnic. Games, prizes, cotton candy, & popcorn all FREE.
I am not sure if any of you have had an opportunity to see Jason Hewlett, but he is SO FUNNY! He is hilarious! He impersonates other entertainers, mostly singers. He impersonates Snow White, U2, Billy Joel, Louis Armstrong, Willie Nelson, Jim Carey, Michael Jackson, Ricky Martin, Guns n Roses, Elton John (both 70's and 90's), Stevie Wonder, Buddy Holly just to name a few. He is amazing!
At one of Robert's work parties Jason Hewlett was the entertainment and we were laughing so hard our belly hurt! Jason Hewlett is from Sandy, I think he still lives here in UT somewhere, maybe Park City I think. He is funny and clean. I was so excited to see him doing this performance. Ever since we saw him I keep looking to see where he is going to be performing so we can go again.
What is better than a FREE FAMILY FUN NIGHT? You can get more information on the Pony Express Days at www.eaglemountaincity.com and to get directions to the Silver Lake Amphitheater. I am pretty sure we will be going for family home evening that night! Can't wait!
You can also see Jason Hewlett on YouTube and he has a website to, if you search for Jason Hewlett you will see it. I would have put a video on here, but I am not sure exactly how to do that... If you are coming, let me know and we can go together or meet there. It will be so much fun!!

Emily is officially in the A.L.L. program
One thing the principal and the teachers talked about was that many times after school activities are planned at school. (I already knew that since Lindsey has planned her birthday party on Wed. the 27th at the park by the school and has already invited all of her friends. Then she was upset when I told her that wouldn't probably work. She was so angry at me.) They talked about being "out of the loop" or feeling "lost" when you got to scouts or what not with other kids in your neighborhood, as they are talking about the cool assembly or something from school, you weren't at that school so you don't really know.
They also addressed the need of homework EVERY NIGHT for a set amount of time. They talked about wanting to really push the kids so they can be challenged, and have to ask for help from their classmates and figure out for themselves how to get answers or figure out a problem. I think that will be great for Emily. They talked about getting out of your comfort zone. They also said it wasn't always about getting all your homework done, but that you sat there working on it for the amount of time, so even if you didn't figure out the math, you tried.
After all they talked about and then me talking to Emily again, also explaining that next year there will be NO bus for her to ride. The twins will be starting school at 8am the same as she will need to be at school at 8am, and I can't be two places at one time. Emily's school is 1.9 miles north of our house, and the new school that Lindsey and Lauren will be at is 1.8 miles south of our house... total in the opposite directions! Emily said I could drop her off early at school and pick her up last, she would be fine with that.
Now it is a done deal... we signed the accepted letter and the track request for her to be on the 8am schedule. I guess it is all decided. (I fret the idea of all the running around, but I would still be driving kids to and from school because it is too far for them to walk and no buses. Emily is excited. At least the school with the A.L.L. program is near by. And maybe, just maybe when Lindsey and Lauren are in 3rd grade they will be in the program too. Wouldn't that be nice and convenient!

All about Samantha
Samantha is so fun. She is waving now, and she is even saying "hello" or maybe it is "hi" both of which what we say when we wave to her. Some days I think it sounds more like hello and then other times it seems more like hi. Who knows, maybe she is really just saying "get me food and stop waving to me already!" She is such a cheerful baby. She is always smiling. Except when I leave the room and she is not busy enough to be distracted that I am leaving and then she will cry. She settles down quick, but doesn't like the idea of me leaving. I guess it is the separation anxiety babies get.
She has the cutest smile. Which sometimes reminds me of pictures I have seen of myself as a small girl. When she smiles sometimes, when she has a really big smile she will scrunch up her nose with her smile. I didn't get a very good picture of it. It isn't something you can really make her do, she just will do it sometimes when she gets really excited. I keep trying. She will make that scrunched nose smile, I will get my camera and then she will be interested in the camera and stop smiling with her nose wrinkled up. Emily use to scrunch up her nose when she had a really big smile too, but doesn't do it really anymore. I am sure Samantha will out grow it, but I just love it when she smiles like that.
Samantha's new bedtime routine is that she has to have her blanket tag in her hand. I don't really know when it started but she has been doing it for a little while now. She will take the tag on the blanket in one hand and hold it up to her face, and then suck her thumb on the other hand. Sometimes she will even tuck the tag into her thumb sucking hand. She will cry if she doesn't have that tag. I have tried giving her other tags from other things, and some she likes and some she doesn't. I think it has to maybe be silky like this tag is on her blanket. It is a good thing we have 3 of these blankets, I hope they all still have their tags on them. I used the tags to write the girl's name on them so they would stop fighting over whose it whose.
Little Sammie is also just all over the place. She will crawl onto things that are somewhat low. Anything a little bigger than a stair step she will get onto. She got onto a plastic tote the other day, was sitting up there and then Amber knocked her off and told her she couldn't be up there because she could fall. Imagine that, she did fall when Amber pushed her. I guess Amber was right! Sam is an expert at the stairs. She will crawl up them fast! One night Robert was down stairs with Samantha, I was up putting Amber to bed. I came down was talking to Robert, went into the kitchen and then asked, "Where's Samantha?" Robert said, "Right..... oh she was right here." He started to look around and Samantha was up the stairs, and onto the second part of the stairs. (We have split stairs, you go up some stairs and then turn the corner and go up the rest of the stairs.) She was just giggling!
She has a great laugh too. I love to tickle her and just listen to her laugh. She is really ticklish too. All our kids have been pretty ticklish, with Amber being the least and Samantha being the most! She also will do her own peek-a-boo. Samantha will put her hands over her eyes and sometimes her forehead and wait and then pull them off and then laugh. She is really good with a blanket, we will play "Where's Samantha" a game that we have played with all the girls. I put a blanket over their head and then say, "where's Samantha?" and then she will pull the blanket off and I say, "there you are!" She will find me, or any of the other girls, and will then put it back on her head or one of the girls' to play again. She is fun!!
She loves to walk around holding onto someones fingers, or she will find her own thing to walk around with. She was pushing Amber's high chair around yesterday. She isn't walking on her own but I have seen her standing up at the couch and then she lets go to clap or to switch a toy from one hand to the other. She is going to be walking before I want her to. She will then have a better reach at everything. Sometimes when I am walking her around with her holding onto my fingers, I will try to sit her down so I can go do something or get something, and she just won't bend. She is like a board, won't bend to sit down. It makes it near impossible to sit her down or let go of her without her crying.
Here Samantha is in her bed, you can see her tag in her hand that she is holding up.
She still has her tag in her hand, although it is hard to see.
This is the best picture I have of her smiling big with her nose scrunched up, it isn't really good, but it is what I got. She is so funny!
Again, she has the tag, doesn't want to lose it. She will search and search until she finds it. She is crazy.
Picture for previous posts (March)
curtains and the hardware to go with it....
(animal print fuzzy curtains and then some sheer black curtains too)
I picked up this material and then didn't really know what to do with it... this is what I did. I am still not super impressed or pleased with it. Everytime I go into her room I look at it and keep thinking, what should we do with that? Maybe I will see something somewhere to give me an idea or maybe I will think of something. Until then, this is what it looks like.
In Feburary Emily had a monthly project due, what didn't get done because of several reasons, Samantha was sick with RSV and we kind of just had a crazy month. She turned it in late, but finally got it done. She was to make a biography of someone. She chose her Grandma Hayes.
This is the finished project.
It was suppose to have several things on it, biography on one side, a time line on another side, a poem on another side (I forget what it is called, you spell out their name and do words that start with that letter of their name). Then on the front was to have pictures, and a border or something that was made up of things the person liked.

Rules for Amber
When she first asked, I told her there were rules.
- No getting out of my bed
- You have to stay laying down
- No making a mess in my room
- You have to be really quiet
- If you don't follow the rules you go back to your own bed
Now every time I go to put her to down for a nap she will ask if she can sleep in my bed and then she starts telling me all the rules..."I will be really quiet (in a whisper and her finger touching her lips to make the SHHH sign), I won't get our of your bed I won't make a mess."
Most the time she does good and she can stay in my bed and she takes a normal nap. In the last week she will come out of my room and say, "I want to go to my own bed now." I will then go put her to bed in her own bed and all is well. The first part of last week she couldn't go in my bed because she "didn't follow the rules."
Over the weekend, Robert and I were watching a movie. Amber was in my bed and was doing well or I thought. She then came down stairs, and when I asked what she was doing she said, "Getting you a pillow, you need a pillow." She grabbed a pillow off the floor and was carrying it to me "Look up" (which means lean forward) and then she put the pillow behind my back. Then she started in with saying, "I am hungry!" as she was rubbing her belly and then it was, "Can I watch your movie? Is it a scary movie? I like scary movies! Does it have a monster in it? I want to watch it." I told her it was very scary but it didn't have any monsters but one big really silly shoe that liked to scare people. Robert is just cracking up at her requests. I tell her she can have a few crackers and then must go to bed. I always feel bad for her because she eats like a mouse. Just a little her and there, I am always worried if she is getting enough, so when she says she hungry or thirsty for water, I hate NOT to give it to her. She mostly drinks chocolate milk all day long. (well maybe only like 2 or 3 cups)
Last night, I put her to bed, she wants to sleep in my bed. She starts telling me the rules that she won't do this and won't do that... I tell her no problem. Put her down in my bed. Turn on some music and she seems good to go. A little later I hear her upstairs wanting to go to her own bed. FIGURES! I go up and put her in her own bed. She asks for more water to drink then she starts telling me MY rules:
- Get me one more drink
- Take my cup
- Cover me up
- Don't wake me up
- Don't get me out of bed
- Don't give me a sucker because I am really really tired
- Don't give me more water because I am not thirsty anymore
- Don't turn off my music
- Don't bother me because I am going to sleep
I was trying not to laugh and just said, "okay." She really cracks me up! I followed the rules, and left her in her bed and all was good til this morning. I guess she wanted to make her own rules this time.

A Dam Post
When my parents and brother & family came to visit they drove past these 3 dams. As they were driving by one of these dams, my dad told a story that his mother told him. It goes something like this:
A man went to the dam to get some dam water. He asked the dam man for some dam water. The dam man said he couldn't have any of his dam water. The man told the dam man to keep his dam water.
While my dad was telling this story, my nephew who has a grandpa with a fowl mouth, was shocked to hear my dad (his other Grandpa) to talk this way. He just sat there with his mouth open!
When they arrived at our house they related the story to us. Then my brother wanted my dad to tell Emily the dam story. So again, the story was told. Emily just looked at him and was like, oh-okay. Again, my nephew Thomas was just cracking up and now thought it was pretty funny. But my innocent (sheltered) daughter only heard it and understood it as I wrote it, only having thinking about the dam. She responded to it the same as if my dad had told her the man went to the lake to get some lake water... she saw nothing funny about it.
It made me realize how sheltered she is, which is good and bad. My mom then explained to her that dam could also be used as a bad word.... Still Emily was like-oh. No humor in it at all for her.
On the other hand, Robert and I found it to be pretty funny (and my brother Kelly and his wife Sarah).
As we drove to WA, we approach the first dam on our trip. Robert says, "Look they even have a dam flag!" I of course look, see the flag and crack up laughing. I text my dad and Kelly & Sarah saying what Robert said. (I had been texting back and forth with Kelly and Sarah most of the way.) As we are getting closer to the dam (which we have pointed out to the girls by now) Emily asked if we can drive across the dam. Robert starts to crack up and then says, "There's no dam road!" I am now cracking up. I text what Robert says about the dam. We come up to the dam, and see they do have a road on the dam. I tell the kids (but mostly to Robert), "they do have a dam road, we just can't use it."
We drive past it and look back at all the water pouring out. Then one of the kids asks how the water comes out of the dam. Robert must be a dam expert or something, because he replied, "through the dam holes!"
We had many more dam jokes as we were driving by all the dams. I just can't remember them all.
It was hilarious, maybe one of those "had to be there" jokes. I was also texting back and forth with Kelly and Sarah. Sarah or Kelly would text, "where are you?" I would respond, "in the suburban" It made for a fun road trip even though it was long. We kept joking back in forth. At one point they asked where we were, and I told them "Fairy Queen" but I had just mistyped.
I would frequently just text "176 miles to Portland" which gave them an idea of where we were. They were at my parents house waiting for us to get there. I would text mile post markers or certain exits they would know of, or what the signs said, "Entering Washington" or "Oregon thanks you for coming" type signs that would give them an idea of when we would arrive.
We would have gotten there faster, but Sgt or maybe Trooper Ring (not sure his real title) stopped and wanted to talk to us. He got Robert for speeding, and also crossing over the line while driving. He asked Robert why he was doing that. Robert kind of looked at him, and then looked back at the 5 girls and said, just a car load of girls. The officer of course asked for all our info, and we didn't have a current insurance card... sitting at home on our desk. The officer went back to his car, came back with some "Oregon Junior Trooper" silver star shaped stickers for the kids and let Robert off with a warning. I guess he felt sorry for him and all the girls! We made jokes about that for many miles too.
I guess road trips can be fun, if you are in good company. A few great dam jokes help too. Maybe you should think about taking a dam road trip too. LOL

Emily and the A.L.L. program
We got a letter back saying she has been accepted for the program. I went today to see her test results. I thought I could actually look at them, but they just kind of tell you the numbers. She did pretty well. She got a 77 on her writing and the lady said 50 was about average for her grade. The CogAt scores where given in SAS (Standard Age Score) which is I interpret it as how most other kids do at this age. The lady with the district that I talked to said that 90-100 is like average, 115 is above average, and 130 is high. Emily scored 129 in Reading, 124 in Math, and 128 in Non Verbal. From what I was reading the average score is 100 and the highest possible score would be 150, and they use the scores to determined what they consider "gifted" for special programs like the ALL program.
Now we have to decide if we want to go through with the program. A few downsides to it is that she will be going to a different school then my other girls. They are building a new school that my girls will be going to next year, but the program will stay at the school that the girls attend now. Emily will be familiar with the school and teachers but I will have the problem of picking up and dropping off of kids, since their will be no buses for us next year, or so that is what I am hearing. Another bad thing is she won't be going to the same school as the majority of the neighbors here (unless they are in the program too).
I think it would be good for Emily since she normally kind of feels bored in classes... she has always done well in reading and spelling. Her first grade teacher gave her special spelling words because she had no problems doing her other spelling words. It seems like she did that in 2nd grade maybe too. I think she would like the special things the class would do. I think of the wonderful chance this is for her to participate in... especially since the school is so close to us, and it wouldn't really be like changing school. Emily has a hard time with change like that, since she is shy to start.
With that being said, I don't want to push her into things too hard either and make her feel like she has to be "perfect" as she sometimes complains that I make her feel like she needs to be. She wants to do the program. It is a 2 year commitment, so it's not like we can try it and say no thank you if it is too much. Emily wants to do it, so maybe that is all there is to it. I guess also they wouldn't put her in it if she didn't test well. The lady said they had like 66 kids in Emily's grade (through out the WHOLE district) that were accepted. That is pretty impressive to me. Emily is a pretty smart girl!
What to do? What to do?
Decisions...decisions.... maybe I need to go put on some chapstick and think about this.... (see previous post about Amber and chapstick)
Why I don't use chapstick anymore!
She was up on the counter one day getting some candy and knocked my cookie jar lid on the floor which shattered the lid. It was a present from Lauren for Christmas. Lauren and the rest of the girls where pretty sad that my pig jar broke. They made Amber feel pretty sad about it. Now Amber will just out of the blue say, "I am sorry I broke your present mom, it was an accident!" I keep telling her that I knew it was and that it is okay. She is so cute when she says it.
In Washington she loved to play the piano. She had her Grandpa and Grandma pretty well tied around her finger.
Lately when I take pictures, she is wanting me to take some of her. These are from WA, and I had my camera. She will say, "Take a picture of me!" Then I will snap a shot, then she says, "Again" or "here" or "do this one." She would have me there all day if I would let her. Here are some of her poses, all in a row of how she did them. She is a funny girl!
